Puget Sound Weather Outlook

Updated Thursday 4:15 a.m.

Seattle easily broke the daily record yesterday for rain on August 20th, with 0.70" and crushing the old record of 0.11". Although that was a very easy record to break. Some spots in the mountains had several inches.

Some lingering showers will be around this morning with breezy areas, but drying is the order of the day for most of the region as we get into the afternoon. The exception is the Convergence Zone area between Seattle and Everett, which could see continuing showers until sunset. Highs will rise a tad to the upper 60s.

Friday is looking quite pleasant, with some morning fog and low clouds burning away to mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Highs will reach the low-mid 70s.

Saturday is looking like the nicest day of this week, with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures -- enough for highs to get into the mid-upper 70s, maybe a few low 80s in the usual warm spots.

Forecast models are now drifting back toward the pessimistic for Sunday as it now shows a cold front arriving Sunday afternoon instead of Sunday night. Thus, we've put showers back in the forecast with highs dropping to the low 70s. The morning looks dry!

A cool trough of low pressure then meanders around on Monday and Tuesday, keeping us in more of a "showers and sunbreaks" pattern with highs close to 70 -- although maybe mid-upper 60s for Tuesday since the air mass will be cooler. Monday looks drier than Tuesday.

Then, we dry out a bit for Wednesday with partly sunny skies.
